Hardwood flooring is commonly used in many types of businesses and homes because of some of the features it offers. If you want to know if a hardwood floor would be the right choice for you to go with, then consider how they are better than carpeted floors for the following types of households where health concerns are present:

A household with pets

In a household with pets, certain types of flooring can be problematic in a number of ways. For example, carpet can be hard to deal with in a house that has pets, because pets can end up having accidents on the floor. Certain types of pet accidents can end up causing problems for people who have breathing issues. For example, if you have someone living in the home that has asthma, then cat urine can be something that can bother their lungs and triggers an asthma attack.

Hardwood flooring can be great for homes with pets, because if they do end up having accidents on the flooring, then you can easily clean the mess up and disinfect the area. The floor will look and smell just as good as it did before the accident. Also, there won't be any issues with the pets being able to tear up the flooring like they would if it was carpet.

A household with family members that have allergies

A carpeted home can have a lot of issues when it comes to irritating someone who has allergies or health conditions like asthma. Carpet flooring can be problematic because the allergens that get tracked in on shoes will end up getting stuck to the carpet. Those allergens can end up getting into the air, where they will be breathed in and trigger an allergy flare-up or an asthma attack. Also, everything from pet dander from dogs, cats, and even birds, to things like the dust from birdseed can get in the carpet, then in the air, and cause problems.

A hardwood floor won't collect allergens and dust the way that carpet can. Plus, when you sweep and mop the hardwood floor, these allergens will be removed from the house. With carpet, those particles just get stirred up into the air, triggering an allergy attack all over again. Hardwood flooring is going to be the best flooring in homes where someone has allergies, asthma, or other health conditions like these.
